Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to participate to the 3rd edition of the Fife Pride in Kirkcaldy.

I came along as an individual priding myself to be an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and will always support Love on all its form.

As a campaigner, the Pride was an opportunity for me and my fellow Liberal Democrats campaigners and elected representative to launch our petition to stop the blood ban for men who have sex with men. This ban prevents gay or bisexual men who have had sexual intercourse with any other man within 3 months from giving the blood.

The men who have sex with men (MSM) blood donor controversy is outrageous, not based scientifically and full of homophobic stigmatism. The 2017 change from 12 to 3 months waiting period for MSM donors in the UK is not enough and discriminatory. It must stop!

Since 2015, the Liberal Democrats are calling both Westminster and Holyrood to end this blood ban once and for all.

As a Scottish Liberal Democrat campaigner for Dunfermline Central, I will continue to fight and continue to demand our representatives in the Scottish Parliament to lift totally the blood ban for MSM. I want to do it with you!

I would like to know a bit more on what are your views on LGBTQ+ issues you would like to raise as well as other issues in our community. You can do it at the following link:

LGBTQ+ Survey

Together, we can demand better. We can demand an inclusive society where everybody is treated equally and respectfully. Together we can achieve this!

If you want to join me to fight against inequalities and demand better from our governments (both Holyrood and Westminster), you can do it here
