Fife To End Use Of Single-Use Plastics In Schools After Lib Dems Raise Issue In Council

by Aude Boubaker-Calder on 1 October, 2021

Earlier in the Summer, after school pupils got in touch with a Dunfermline Liberal Democrat councillor, the Lib Dems put forward a motion to Council to end the use of single-use plastics in Fife’s School. It was supported unanimously by all councillors.

Local Lib Dem candidate Aude Boubaker-Calder, who has long campaigned to reduce the use of single-use plastics, has welcomed this, saying,

“I was delighted to help work on the motion and even more delighted that it passed with support from every councillor in Fife.

“It was inspirational that school pupils took the initiative in highlighting this issue. Single-use plastics are a menace to our environment and cause a huge amount of damage to wildlife.

“With plenty of alternatives available to the Council, hopefully, we will see single-use plastics removed from our schools for good soon, as well as in other Council services.”
